Create a Green Your Home category at EnergyVideos. com that helps Californians understand energy conservation strategies and energy improvements that are consistent with the Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards. The goal should be to not only help Californians make wise green decisions, but also educate Californians on what green-job professionals can provide them with services.
Help homebuyers understand what green means. Provide Green Your Home content for yourhome.ca.gov. Prioritize it on the webpage so if you click on Moving to California from the CA.gov home page, you get the message right away that green homes are a priority in the state of California.
There are lots of ideas; just not everyone is paying attention. What Green Economy? First you have to define it, then create it. Most posts on here are extremely generalistic, with no real substance.
To foster a GREEN ECONOMY, you should be publicizing truly green innovation in business and commerce. But first, clearly define what you mean by "green"?
There are tremendous number of ways one could think about going "green". Using less energy, driving less, buying local, substituting dangerous chemicals for safer ones in products, developing more sustainable manufacturing processes and feedstocks, increasing recycling, using renewable energy, and on and on.
I suggest you first become focused on a single issue, whatever that may be, and work on that issue, and then expand to other issues as you gain insight and knowledge. Partner with the UC and other scientific think tanks to develop web content relevant to the public as a whole. Start small and expand in the future, as you get experience.
Publicizing truly innovative and truly "green" new technologies and products would be a great place to start. Many municipalities have, and are hungry for more, environmentally preferable purchasing programs that focus on procuring "green" products. Consumers also seem to have interest in such information. Expand resources available to these entities (list green products for example) to foster green purchasing, which in turn can drive markets and create the green economy you desire.

The new CA green economy has an opportunity to:
-Explicitly welcome all workers, regardless of sex, race, gender,
disability, age, sexual orientation,
et al, and other criteria, not really honored in the carbon based economy.
In addition, other best practices- like buying American, and reducing global outsourcing, should get priority for government support in the Green jobs arena.
Thirdly, CA government must do more to
reach out to displaced white collar workers, who number in the millions.
These and other content areas are not
yet adequately addressed on the web, such that they are searchable. This can be dealt with by creating:
•A one-stop Green jobs web portal, aggregating
all truly Green companies, (with links to
external verification of such Green claims), would assist job hunters in finding positions as they become available.
On the policy side, CA must focus utilization of truly safe clean tech technologies that
are already available-such as solar. This content should be prioritized for both job creation and environmental protection. Killer technologies- like nuclear or off-shore drilling should not be highlighted or green washed in California as a Green job. These jobs are dangerous for workers, and the climate, as the recent Gulf oil spill disaster proves once again. Do we want that off of our coast in CA?
A spell checker on this site would be great. Thanks

Please support budding green media in the state. GOV websites receive preference in SEO/engines so we need your support with timely information, good contacts, steamlined workflow for new media, etc. to extend YOUR reach...and create green jobs in information sectors. Information is usually LEFT OUT of grant programs, etc. so we're struggling even more than green manufacturing companies.

I think I have to present something here, which is more than an idea. It’s a solution. It’s one of the best green economy solutions ever known by human being, which also creates thousands of green jobs. The solution is called Dynamic Cylinder Deactivation or DCD. Dynamic Cylinder Deactivation is the latest automotive engine efficiency improvement solution. It can be applied in many engine related fields, stationary and mobile power generators, cars, trucks and buses. One of the most important features of DCD technology is its high compatibility to the existing engines, so it could be implemented by retrofitting with very low cost, yielding 8% to 15% fuel savings right away. Based on EPA vehicle fuel economy standard and the current $3 per Gallon fuel price in California, we could work out that to reduce one ton of CO2 per year, only $600 to $800 cost is required by DCD technology. There’s no other known technology could reduce CO2 with such a low unit cost. And to retrofit one vehicle with DCD technology, 2 to 4 hours of skilled technician labor is required. In this way, DCD retrofitting could create thousands jobs to retrofit millions of existing vehicles nationwide, yielding millions tons of CO2 reduction each year. I wish some money from taxpayers could be spent in such low investment but high yield area with CO2 reduction and job creation. I also would like to set up a great worldwide green economy challenge that who can or how to beat $600 to $800 cost to reduce one ton CO2 per year ----- the green challenge of beating DCD with even lower unit CO2 reduction cost.

Information is important. How about connecting your state information offices so media can cross the barriers more easily? It's as though noone knows noone in the state. Collaborative stories would be a real boost for consumers who don't have the time to track down all the pertinent agencies involved in environmental projects, issues or programs.

Just as Secretary Adams at CalEPA is "Adams is now working closely with states, provinces and countries around the world to develop a network of climate initiatives to achieve the greatest global [GHG] reductions,"...We would like to continue to connect globally with green bloggers around the world at the sub-federal levels and provide the platform for engagement, dialogue and sharing of ideas, resources and community re: growing local green economies.
We have begun this network. We seek to continue. http://greenblognetwork.wordpress.com
Copenhagen need not be a static event. Through strategic use of the Green Blog Network, we can continue the dialogue of green economies and green governments amongst individuals, community leaders, stakeholders, government and business people via online and digital media.
Strategic partners, advertisers, sponsors are welcomed.

I am working with folks on efforts that are small pieces of both of these grandiose ideas.
Another idea is related to the organization/presentation of the information - always and issue of web sites and never a clear/clean answer. However, becuase there are so many angles to the Green economy, it may be helpful for the users to ask questions right up front and center about what type of info. theyare looking for:
employment
training
reports/information
funding/incentives
education/courses
While never perfect, it may help direct the user to the info. theyare looking for as fast and direct as possible.
I would also recommend including an area specifically on the research that Collaborative Economics is doing for Next10, ESP, ETP, EDD, BTH and others on regional clusters of Opportunity so that people can get a feel for the background and the basic concepts of where a lot of this is coming from.
Good Luck.

You need to get the website name and URL out into the working world and general public. LinkedIn, Facebook, public libraries, blogs, regional labor councils, clean tech trade groups, enviro organizations, apprenticeship programs, etc., etc.
Once you have engaging, meaningful content, it won't mean much if no one knows about the website.

The key to make the green economy work, the consumer needs to be nudged and educated about their choices and if given the right choice, the consumer will opt for the solution that makes them feel good, solves their immediate need and has an positive impact that's real and tangible.
